Brian X. Tierney is a Senior Managing Director and Global Head of Infrastructure Operations and Asset Management. Prior to joining Blackstone in 2021, Mr. Tierney was the Executive Vice President of Strategy for American Electric Power (AEP), one of the largest electrical utilities in the United States. From 2009-2020, he was the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of AEP.
Previously, he was Executive Vice President – AEP Utilities East, responsible for the distribution, customer service, and financial performance of AEP’s utility operating companies in the states of Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.
Prior to joining AEP, Mr. Tierney worked for a subsidiary of Enron Corp., where he traded electricity and coal. Before entering the energy industry, Mr. Tierney served as a United States Peace Corps Volunteer in the Republic of the Philippines and worked in the consumer products industry.
Mr. Tierney has a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Boston College and an MBA from the University of Chicago with concentrations in finance and accounting. He serves on the Boards of Trustees of The Jeffrey Company and previously served on the boards of the Mount Carmel College of Nursing, Columbus School for Girls, LifeCare Alliance and the Columbus Chamber.
